【Native - Bungaku Shoujo: The Literary Type - New Design Ver.】A quite rare remake work of a popular Figure! Feel a boldness within modest beauty, the reborn Literary Girl's “New Edition” newly debuts!

2026-08-11
Have you ever looked at a person met for the first time in a while and spontaneously stared, thinking “Was this what their atmosphere was like?” What can be felt from “New Edition Literary Girl” is precisely a mysterious sensation reminiscent of such a reunion after several years. “Literary Girl,” which has been evaluated as a masterpiece since its release in 2021, appeared in a new figure. While properly leaving previous traces and a beautiful appearance, the received impression is surprisingly different. While holding the youthfulness of a woman who greatly increased her charm within a short time, the tranquility like a work of art inherited carefully over long years also drifts. Gazing at the figure where those two coexist, it feels as though she, who was originally a flower on a high peak, became an even more distant existence.
Speaking of changes that catch your eye first, as expected it must be the boldly changed coloring. Outfits based on black and red do not merely push forward gorgeousness alone, but feature a refined finish reminiscent of traditional Japanese arts and crafts. Black tightens the whole, and by adding red within that, composure and vividness coexist in an exquisite balance. You might think “If it's just changing colors, wasn't the previous one sufficient?”, but this new edition is not such a simple renewal. The character's atmosphere itself changes through color, and while being the same literary girl, the point of making you feel an atmosphere and dignity more mature than before is impressive.
Furthermore, what warrants attention is the point that new sculpting is adopted for parts of the hair and face. This is likely a point suitable for the name “New Edition.” While taking the charm of the original version as a foundation, by putting hands anew into fine sculpting, it is crafted so that it can be appreciated as a new work. Figures, even with just slight changes in facial expressions or hair flow, look different even down to the person image received by the viewer. Rather than erasing previous good points and remaking, being fond of evolving in the direction of increasing new highlights while inheriting beautiful parts is appealing. People who know the original version would likely find it fun to compare the two while searching for differences in sculpt and atmosphere.
Responsible for the coloring production this time was “Tobari Denki,” for whom this work was their first job. Hearing it is a first job, just that alone makes you want to gaze thoroughly at the finish, but in this work, while using strongly impressive colors of black and red, an elegant worldview that never becomes overly flashy is constructed. If sculpting is what creates the contour of a figure, coloring is what gives temperature and atmosphere there. Particularly in a delicate theme like “Literary Girl,” a single way of showing color changes the impression of the whole work. Composure, sense of high quality, and a somehow hard-to-approach beauty. Thoroughly appreciating that atmosphere also seems to become a way of enjoying unique to this new edition.
What feels personally interesting is the name “New Edition Literary Girl” itself. In books, works long loved are sometimes published as a new edition by renewing bookbinding and such, and this work also truly calls to mind such a volume. Rather than simply replacing the original, it is an existence delivering new discoveries to people who know previous charm, and completed beauty to people taking it into hand for the first time. Needless to say for people who have not welcomed “Literary Girl” yet, even for people who know the 2021 version, is it not a finish making you want to appreciate it anew? A collection shelf lining up gorgeous figures is also good, but with this literary girl, you want to gently display her in a quiet study surrounded by books and art objects. It is a deep, tasteful remake work that naturally makes you imagine even such a display location.
