【"Azur Lane" Bache Gorgeous Speed-star ver.】The Ultimate in Detail, from the Rider Jacket to the Bike! The Way She Looks Back is Too Cute! Bache Gorgeous Speed-star ver. is Here!

2025-10-30
The first impression of this “Gorgeous Speed-star ver.” of Bache is that it is surprisingly stylish for a figure capturing the world of Azur Lane. Adding to her cuteness as a Fletcher-class destroyer, she boldly co-stars with a motorcycle this time. Despite being 1/7 scale, the figure, finished with a realistic size (approx. 220mm in height) and solid material (PVC/ABS), offers satisfaction not just in visual impact but also in sculptural density. Her appearance, where charm and coolness coexist, is full of a presence that feels like a story is about to begin just by gazing at her.
The charm of this figure is, without a doubt, the delicacy of the emotion contained in Bache's expression. Her slightly mischievous yet somehow confident smile transcends simple character reproduction, projecting her “personality” into the three-dimensional form. Sculpted by Taketami Nagano, the expression captured in a moment of movement is brilliantly reproduced, and her single glance stimulates the viewer's imagination. It is packed with a sense of dynamism, as if she looked back at you immediately after speeding past.
What could be called the other main subject is the motorcycle she is riding. The finish by colorist Kimura and sculptor N・E is on a level that can truly be called “realism-oriented,” with the weight and texture of metal realistically expressed. While faithfully recreating the atmosphere of the illustration, it achieves both strength and beauty as a three-dimensional object, making it an important element that enhances the “sense of unity as a figure,” not just a background item. Details such as the brake discs, chain, and lights are meticulously crafted, and the finish is truly an example of masterful skill.
A detail you should certainly notice on this figure is the craftsmanship of Bache's outfit. Not only the lace trim, ribbons, and the three-dimensional feel of the decorations, but also the drape of the fabric and the texture of the material are carefully expressed. The contrast with the motorcycle is particularly superb, highlighting the character's softness and the machine's hardness, which enhances the appeal of both. The sense of realism of something that is slightly extraordinary yet exists right before you is made possible by the high degree of completion in this costume sculpting.
It is often said that a figure “looks like it leaped out of the illustration,” but in the case of this Bache figure, it has an expressive power that can be called “beyond the illustration.” While faithfully tracing the original speed-filled artwork, it adds information that cannot be obtained in a flat image—such as shadows unique to a three-dimensional object, light reflections, and changes in appearance due to angle—revealing a new aspect of the character. It is a presence that proves that when “interpretation” and “expression” are added to a mere reproduction, a figure becomes a work of art.
